The Guanacaste Wildlife Monitoring Camera Trap Experience

Are you a nature lover looking for a behind the scenes look at wildlife monitoring using camera trap technology? Would you like to support Costa Rican conservation efforts? Are you looking for a guided hike in one of Guanacaste’s most pristine protected areas? Then the GWM Camera Trap Experience in partnership with Estación Experimental Forestal Horizontes is just what you are looking for!

Checking Cameras

Join us for a 2.5 mile hike (Difficulty Level: Medium) in beautiful Horizontes where you will review camera videos with our founder and wildlife biologist Vincent. You will have the unique opportunity to participate in citizen science and get a firsthand look at how wildlife monitoring works in the field using scientific methods and the latest technology.

With some luck, you may also come across some wildlife offscreen during your tour including birds, monkeys, deer, coatis and more! As you review videos with Vincent, you are likely to see videos of pumas, tapirs, crocodiles, and ocelots…. often the timestamp of the video is only hours before the tour!

Pricing: Tours cost $250 for groups of 1 to 4 guests, plus $65 for each additional person. We offer discounted rates for children 12 and under, and recommend the tour for children ages 7 and older. A portion of all fees support conservation efforts at Horizontes.

Ready to book? Please contact us via email, phone or WhatsApp and we will be happy to assist in setting up your camara trap tour!
